Explore Way Beyond at Camp Caroline

Our Junior High camps is what being a teenager is all about. We begin Sunday afternoon and are finished on the following Saturday after brunch. There are seven campers per counselor in a cabin, and you can request to be with friends or get to know some new friends.

Junior Highs tell us that they love our wide variety of activities. The Craft Shack is full of unique crafts, including ceramics and leatherwork, or maybe get your hair painted! You'll play fun field and wide games that you may not be able to play anywhere else, like our famous game called "Kingdom Quest." How many times are you allowed to use a bow and arrow? Swimming in our indoor pool or soaking in the hot tub is always a big hit. There's the high adventure of the Climbing Wall and High Ropes Course while the Group Initiative Sites and Zip-Line are yearly favorites. In your free time you may also get to shoot hoops, play a round of Frisbee Golf, or try a camper favorite - creek walking.

Activity Programs for Junior High

(must choose one)

Our Activity programs add great excitement and experience that go beyond the Lodge activities. And for Junior Highs the programs really open up at Camp Caroline - too bad each person has to choose one and only one for their week.

We will again be offering our sports programs in Volleyball & Basketball. With the emphasis on fun and recreation, our junior high sports programs are designed for both beginners and those who’ve played on a school team. You’ll get approximately six hours of play and practice under the instruction of staff members who’ve played at a college level. Volleyball is available only at Gr 7/8/9 A Camp; Basketball is available at only Gr 7/8/9 B Camp.

We've got Horsemanship - but not just one choice. You have 3 choices! Level 1 Horsemanship Program is 4 hours of arena and trail riding spread throughout the week for the novice rider. Level 2 Horsemanship Program is for those who have taken at least 1 year of riding at Camp Caroline or equivalent. Though still designed for novice riders, Level 2 Horsemanship involves a more intensive 6-hour Program with a lot more time in the arena to help you be a better rider. The final Horsemanship Program combines riding and camping overnight away from the Lodge to become, you guessed it, the Overnight Trail Ride Program. You'll ride out to camp at a nearby lake and then ride back to the Lodge in the morning.

We also have several Day Trip programs that take you away from the Lodge for one of your days at Camp Caroline. There's the Whitewater Rafting Program on the Red Deer River about an hour and a half southwest of Camp Caroline. The Paintball Program during 7/8/9 B camp will take campers near Olds to play three hours of paintball games with their peers. The Climbing and Rappelling Program is not far from there where you play on a 90 foot cliff for the day. All these trips are lead by professionals that Camp Caroline has been working with for many years.

The programs don't end there. Our trained and qualified staff can take you for a Hiking day trip (7/8/9 A Camp only) to see the sights from mountains an hour or so from Camp Caroline that rise 7500 - 8500 feet above sea level. If you like water, the Lake Canoe Program is a great way to spend a day away from the Lodge at one of the beautiful lakes within 20 minutes of Camp Caroline. And for some extreme sports action you've got to try the Mountain Board Program - 4 hours of great downhill fun on a snowboard with wheels along the wild trails of Camp Caroline.
